The good people over and Mother Earth News kindly sent me a copy of Plowing With Pigs and Other Creative, Low-Budget Homesteading Solutions; a homesteading book by Oscar and Karen Will. Hank is the editor-in-chief at Grit Magazine, and Karen is the editor at The Heirloom Gardener magazine.
I read the book while on vacation a few weeks ago. Jack ganked my Kindle to watch movies on the airplane, and that was fine with me because it allowed me some peace and quiet to enjoy this great book!
The book definitely has something for everyone, and you don't have to own a huge farm or have a lot of property to find some useful tips and tricks in this book. We live on one-fifth of an acre, but I found myself making lists of
things to steal from this book, and ideas to incorporate in to our
"farmlette". There are DIY tutorials, common sense sharing, information about starting a business at home, and even some delicious whole food recipes. I was drooling over the baguette recipe, but have yet to try it thanks to not wanting to turn my oven on for the last month.
I so enjoyed the book that Mother Earth News allowed me to give a signed copy away to one of my readers. That's right, a signed copy!
Want to win the book for yourself? Here are the deets:
