Sigh, I'm in major letdown mode right now.
We had one of my dearest friends, Elaina, and her family visiting for three lovely days. It was so hard to let them go back to Los Angeles, but I am sure they were ready. We've had a beautiful fall and winter here in Seattle, so naturally, it decided to rain and drizzle the entire time the wimpy Angelinos were here. Even in a short amount of time, I think they got slightly acclimated to our chilly weekend. Elaina said she went to a birthday party after landing, and everyone was bundled up against the bone chilling 65 degree weather. Ha!
It was a great visit, and I'm sorry they're gone, but excited that hopefully soon it will be our turn to go down and see them.
During some of my preparation for their trip, I was cleaning out our of huge box of photos, and came across this gem:
It looks like Jack, right?
It's me! My mom caught me hiding behind the basement door eating my sister's smelly markers.
Delicious!
I am light on other verbal diarrhea this morning (I am too tired from staying up way past my bedtime chatting and laughing!), so let's just get right to meal planning, shall we? Reminder, I only plan dinners. My breakfast of choice
has changed, and I'm now obsessed with homemade Greek yogurt with tons
of cut up fresh fruit, and a homemade granola bar crumbled on top. It's delicious and keeps me completely full and
satisfied until lunch. Lunches are always leftovers. We rarely
eat dessert during the week, and our dinner drink of choice is water kefir soda.
Monday:: Shredded BBQ chicken on homemade sandwich rolls, salad, and lazy lady skillet potatoes.
Tuesday:: I'm working late. Sigh. Again. Sigh. Yes, it is getting to be a horrible pattern. Yes, I am sick of this shit.
Wednesday:: Chicken tortilla soup in the crockpot, salad. Troy's cousin's husband is away for work, so we're going to have a "single, married mothers" dinner one night a week for the foreseeable future.
Thursday:: My in-laws feed us. How I love Thursdays!
Friday:: Popcorn dinner. Yes, seriously we eat popcorn for
dinner. It's popcorn, leftovers, cheese slices, fruit, and cut up
veggies. Everyone gets as much as they want, and no one leaves hungry.
I adore Fridays because it is the easiest night of the week for making
everyone happy!
Saturday:: Ok, so I said I was going to make split pea soup yesterday, but it didn't happen. So, I'm going to make it this coming Saturday. Sure I am!
Sunday:: Another great family day! We eat at my parent's house; they provide the main dish, and everyone brings something to contribute.
This weekend, I spent $3.50 on half of a gallon of raw milk from a local farm, $38 on chicken boobies from our local butcher (but about $15 ish of that is for a coworker, and she'll pay me back), and $60 at the grocery store.
What are you having this week? What dish are you most excited about?
